Position Overview: As an Associate Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of our projects, ensuring cost efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to project timelines. You will work closely with project managers, architects, and clients, providing expert advice on cost estimation, procurement, contract administration, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle. Your expertise in quantity surveying coupled with your passion for historic buildings will contribute significantly to the preservation and enhancement of these valuable assets.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed cost estimates and feasibility studies for historic building conservation and restoration projects. Prepare tender documentation, including bills of quantities, and manage the tendering process. Collaborate with project teams to establish project budgets and monitor costs throughout the construction phase. Provide contractual advice and administer contracts in compliance with industry standards and regulations. Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, identify potential cost variations, and resolve commercial issues. Prepare accurate financial reports and forecasts for project stakeholders. Mentor and provide guidance to junior quantity surveyors within the team.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field. MRICS or equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable. Proven experience in quantity surveying, with a focus on historic building projects. Sound knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and relevant legislation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, colleagues, and contractors. Proficiency in relevant software applications such as MS Excel, CostX, and project management tools.
