We are working with a highly reputable private practice specialising in construction project management and consultancy services. With a strong focus on conservation and heritage work, our client pride themselves on delivering exceptional results while preserving the historical integrity of projects. As they continue to grow, we are seeking a talented Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the experienced team.

Role Overview:

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor specialising in conservation and heritage projects, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of our client's ventures. Your expertise will be crucial in managing costs effectively while adhering to the unique requirements of historical preservation. Working closely with clients, contractors, and project teams, you will provide invaluable insight and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Undertake cost estimation, budget management, and financial forecasting for conservation and heritage projects. Conduct thorough site assessments to evaluate existing conditions and identify potential cost implications. Prepare detailed bills of quantities and tender documents tailored to the specific needs of historical preservation projects. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and heritage specialists to develop innovative solutions that balance conservation requirements with modern construction practices. Monitor project expenditure, identify variances, and implement corrective measures to ensure budgetary targets are met. Provide expert advice on contractual matters, procurement strategies, and cost-saving initiatives. Oversee the procurement process, including the preparation of tender packages, contractor selection, and contract negotiations. Maintain accurate records of project costs, valuations, and final accounts in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field. MRICS or equivalent professional accreditation preferred. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a focus on conservation and heritage projects. Strong understanding of historical building materials, construction techniques, and preservation principles. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Proficient in cost management software and MS Office Suite. Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Enthusiasm for conservation and heritage work, with a genuine passion for preserving historical landmarks and buildings.
