A top job opportunity has come up for a Costs Draftsman to join a prestigious law firm in Chester. This is a junior position, but it has great scope for progression within this well-established costs practice.

If successful, you will join a busy department that deals with a range of costs matters, including clinical negligence, personal injury, group litigation, and industrial disease law.

You should be able to manage your own costs caseload, dealing with a variety of legal matters. You’ll also be comfortable with responsibilities such as preparing points of dispute, points of reply, bills, and costs schedules, as well as attending detailed assessment hearings and CCMCs, and negotiating settlements.

In order to be successful, you will have previous experience of bill drafting, as well as the ability to work unsupervised. Meanwhile, clinical negligence, personal injury, and Court of Protection experience would prove beneficial.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience of negotiating skills, along with a thorough knowledge of all relevant legislation and case law, as well as the CPR. You will also be able to operate within a busy environment and work well under pressure. You should also possess a strong attention to detail, and have great communication skills. Ideally, you will also have advocacy experience, and be comfortable attending case management conferences and hearings.
