A great opportunity has arisen for a Costs Lawyer to become part of a leading law practice in Chester. While this is a junior position, it does have brilliant scope for progression within this leading costs firm.

If you are successful, you’ll be joining a bustling team that handles a variety of costs matters, such as personal injury, clinical negligence, industrial disease, and group litigation law.

As such, you will be able to manage your own legal caseload, dealing with a range of costs matters. You should also be comfortable with such responsibilities as preparing points of reply, bills, and points of dispute, as well as costs schedules. You’ll also be attending detailed assessment hearings and CCMCs, along with negotiating settlements.

To be successful in this role, you’ll possess prior experience of bill drafting, along with the ability to work unsupervised, when required. Additionally, a background in clinical negligence, Court of Protection, and personal injury would be advantageous.

The perfect candidate will already have top negotiating skills, as well as a comprehensive understanding of all relevant case law and legislation, along with the CPR. You should also be able to work within a busy, pressured environment, while being a strong communicator and showing great attention to detail. Desirably, you will also be comfortable attending any relevant hearings and case management conferences, and possess advocacy experience.
